Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. has awarded contracts to VT Halter Marine, Inc. of Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. of Panama City, Florida, for the construction of 16 highspecification offshore supply vessels, in connection with its latest newbuild construction program announced on November 7. Each yard will build eight 300-class vessels, and the contracts include options to build additional units.

Technip SA has formed a new worldwide consultancy, a subsea and offshore engineering services company. This new company is a combination of Technip’s wholly owned subsidiary Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants and the deepwater engineering team of Technip in Houston. The newly formed organization, called Genesis, will have major offices in Houston, London, Aberdeen, and Perth.

FMC Technologies, Inc. has been awarded a contract by Petrobras to supply two subsea separation and boosting systems for the Congro and Corvina fields, located offshore Brazil in the Campos Basin.

Newpark Resources, Inc. has entered into an agreement with Rheochem, PLC to acquire its drilling fluids and engineering services unit. Rheochem is an Australian-based oil and gas company.

Global Industries, Ltd. has been awarded multiple projects by McMoRan Oil & Gas for the decommissioning and abandonment of seven production platforms located in the central Gulf of Mexico in water depths ranging from 100 to 400 feet. The work is scheduled to start in late April 2011 and will utilize the DLB Hercules. FMC Technologies, Inc. has received a $125 million order from Petrobras to supply equipment for use in their oil and gas developments offshore Brazil. The order for 32 subsea trees represents the remaining equipment under a 107-tree frame agreement that was announced in February 2010. Separately, the company has signed a five-year global frame agreement with BP to provide subsea production systems for worldwide subsea development projects.

Oceaneering International, Inc. has secured a contract with BHP Billiton Petroleum Pty., Ltd. to supply umbilicals and distribution equipment for development of the Macedon gas field off Western Australia.

FMC Technologies, Inc. has signed a memorandum of understanding with Petrobras to develop future subsea technology solutions for its oil and gas projects offshore Brazil.

Nabors Industries, Ltd. and Superior Well Services, Inc. have entered into a definitive merger agreement whereby Nabors will acquire Superior Well Services.  The agreement contemplates that Nabors will commence a tender offer for all outstanding shares of Superior Well Services common stock at a price of $22.12 per share in cash in accordance with the merger agreement.  The transaction is valued at approximately $900 million.

Oceaneering International, Inc., through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Grayloc Products Canada, Ltd., has acquired all the operating assets of SMX International Canada, Inc. (SMX), a manufacturer of metal-to-metal seal clamp connectors, check valves, and universal ball joints. 

McDermott International, Inc. was awarded a contract to upgrade and enhance a water injection system for Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) in the Zakum field. The contract value is expected to be approximately $350 million.

Oceaneering International, Inc. was the high bidder to acquire the DMT Sapphire from an affiliate of Deep Marine Technology, Inc., under a bankruptcy-sponsored auction proceeding.  The bid was $16.5 million.

Technip has been awarded a contract by Eni for the Kitan field development project in the Timor Sea off the Australian coast.
