Custom POI Format Instructions for Garmin Units by RigData:
1. Save your DRL file (LLGxx.xls) as a CSV file:
a. Open the file with Excel.
b. Go to File\Save As, and select CSV (comma delimited) from the Save as Type drop down.
c. Click Save.
d. Choose Yes if prompted after that.
2. Move the Latitude and Longitude columns to the first two columns:
a. Highlight columns M and N. Click the M and then hold down your Shift key and click the N. Both columns should be highlighted now.
b. Right-click on the M and select Cut.
c. Right-click on the A and select Insert Cut Cells.
3. Rename some column headings as follows:
a. Rename Longitude to LON.
b. Rename Latitude to LAT.
c. Rename Rig_Drill to NAME.
4. Remove NULL value records:
a. Sort by LON.
b. Delete any rows that show NULL as the input.
5. Leave columns D through N (just leave them as is but note that the Garmin will only display the NAME field in a list of locations with these columns under "More").
6. Save and select Save or Yes when prompted.
7. Import the CSV file:
a. Locate your imported file under Extras.
b. Use the instructions provided by Garmin for loading POI files using the POI Loader.
