Originally named Rig Location & Permit Report Service, RigData^® was founded in 1981 for the purpose of tracking and publishing information on oil & gas drilling activity. RigData^®, a division of the Datawright Corporation, uses independent reporters at each state's oil and gas commission to pick up and fax in the operator's intent-to-drill. These documents are edited, entered into a database and published as advanced notice of up coming drilling activity.

Each week the company's editorial staff polls hundreds of drilling contractors and a like number of oil and gas operating companies to see which of these intents are actually being drilled. The active drilling location information is collated, edited and published each Monday, Tuesday, or Friday depending upon the type of report.

Service companies and drilling contractors use our reports and directories to find new customers, keep track of old ones, and to measure market share. Oil and gas operators use our reports to identify exploration trends, find available rigs, and identify new production as it first comes on line. RigData^® is dedicated to providing accurate and timely information.
